Artist Profile

Dot studied at the Manchester College of Art, achieving BA and MA degrees. She has worked with textiles, printmaking, hand painted silk, watercolour and latterly botanical work, selling works to private individuals, galleries and shops.

Clients have included; The National Trust, Volkswagen, the Army and Navy Stores and others. She has paintings and silks in the Derbyshire permanent collection and featured prominently in the female artist’s exhibition ‘She Made It.’

Her work has always been deeply embedded in the natural landscape of Britain, particularly those places where she has lived; Wales, the Peak District and the New Forest.

Alongside a family and children, Dot has had a career in education, initially as a primary school teacher and then as mathematics consultant. She also worked in adult education, teaching drawing and watercolour painting

More recently she has become fascinated with ancient woodland, hedgerow and forest. Her work is about the micro flora and fauna below the trees, the fungi, butterflies and wild flowers.

As a consequence she feels deeply indebted to the inspired teaching, encouragement and guidance given by Sally Pond.
