Books:

The Whole Story, Painting More Than Just the Flowers

Not a how-to book but a look over Christina’s shoulder as she leafs through her portfolio. In it she explains why particular subjects fascinate her and demonstrates some of her working practices, evolved over a very long career in botanical painting.

Christina Hart-Davies

Botanical Artist

Christina has been awarded six RHS Gold Medals since the 1980s, most recently in 2018. Her work is held in many prestigious collections including the Hunt Institute of Botanical Documentation, the Shirley Sherwood Collection, the RHS, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, and private collections worldwide.

She has a special interest in lower plants, particularly lichens, and in Britain’s native flora. She travels widely to study and paint native flora all over the world. She also enjoys painting fruits of any kind, though as a professional illustrator is happy to paint any plant the client requires. Christina is passionate about all aspects of plants: their botany, ecology, habitat, associated fauna, historical uses, and the folklore that surrounds them and has written several books telling more of their story. See her website for details.

Christina has now retired from tutoring workshops and groups.
