“The Use of Under Washes in Botanical Water Colour “

We will be painting tulips as they are in season, but the principles apply to painting other subjects.

This method:

1. Keeps our work fresh and clean
2. Gives vibrancy to our work
3. Helps you think of one colour at a time. (Less confusing)
4. It makes sure your work has shape, form and contrast

Materials required:

Winsor and Newtons basic colours: Windsor Lemon, Windsor Yellow, Permanent Rose, Scarlet Lake, Windsor Blue Red, Windsor Blue Green – Plus Quinacridone magenta (Similar colours from other brands of watercolours can be used.)

Hot pressed paper

Good quality round brushes 2 and 4

Water pot

Eraser

HB pencil

A few sheets of kitchen roll
