Painting Foliage Workshop with Simon Williams

Foliage textures and techniques  – Detailed painting techniques in watercolour (Gouache optional)

Simon Williams will be giving a one-day workshop in 2025 focusing on foliage and mixing greens. Exploring the textures and colours of foliage and methods to capture realistic representations. Subject matter can be from common garden leaves to sarracenias, tropical pitcher plants, or exotic foliage.

Simon will demonstrate at the beginning of the workshop on this topic but for the purpose of the workshop, participants can bring their own subject matter – preferably leaves.

Tutoring will be given on a one – to – one basis once an intro demonstration has been given.

This workshop will aim to demonstrate advanced techniques around dry brush painting methods rather than wet-into-wet techniques. This workshop would suit anyone interested in learning more, tightening up on their technique or to develop an existing one under the watchful guidance of one of the UK’s leading botanical painting tutors’.
